Bennies Last Dance Road to recovery!!!
This mare was purchased with an awful wound on her rear right leg, in Foal and Severely underweight.
Before her surgery in August. Bone just under the open flesh was stopping any efforts to make it heal. She went in and had the bone shaved and scar tissue taken out by the tendon. The tendon was severed during her injury and had healed to the bone.

After Surgery a nice clean bone. Now we start the healing.  Wrapping the wound in a sterile environment with gloves being very carefully not to contaminate it.
3 Weeks after Surgery Tissue has covered the bone and no more chance of an infection starting in the bone.  Yeah !! Such a good mare kept in a stall 24 / 7 and being extremely good about having her wound cared for.
Take her out Daily for 10 to 15 minutes of grass and fresh air.
Ah 10 weeks into the recovery and look at that , its healing nicely. Looks like she will run again!!!
8 Weeks great tissue.
About 16 weeks look at that
Just before thanksgiving and we will face yet another test of will to live and be whole.
Happy New year January 15th 2009.  The rest of her leg is pretty sick of being wrapped. A set back around thanksgiving caused swelling and infection. We spent 15 minutes every two hours walking to get rid of the swelling..
40CC of pen and some dex and we are on our way again.
